'Adullam's Cave Music'
Adullam's Cave Music has been inspired by the desire to maintain the place of the Psalms and great hymns in Christian praise and worship.
Our vision is to recover the role of Psalms and hymns in contemporary praise in line with the New Testament's exhortation to believers in Jesus Christ to 'be filled with the Spirit, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs'.
Music is a powerful tool for memorisation, and in Jewish and Christian tradition it has been used to effectively convey, learn and remember many great truths revealed in the Word of God from generation to generation.
All the Psalms and the best hymns contain great theology, and music provides a God-given means of communicating and remembering this in an accessible and enjoyable way.
As the use of Psalms and hymns becomes less common in contemporary Christian worship, and hymnbooks become relics of past generations, the Christian community is experiencing an incalculable loss. Perhaps the music and instruments of the past may not be match contemporary tastes or appeal to present and future generations who are more at home with 'worship bands' than organs. But this does not mean that the Psalms and hymns themselves should be considered relics of the past as well!
This project is a home-recorded contribution to provide tunes for Psalms and hymns which can be used in any contemporary worship setting as well as more traditional contexts. It is the fruit of over 45 years of composing music for this purpose, and which it is now possible to share through the technology of Soundcloud. The quality of the singing is limited due the home-made nature of the recordings, but the quality of the Psalms and hymns is profound.
I hope what you will hear is 'listenable' enough to convey the powerful theology and truths of God's Word in a memorable way and perhaps 'resurrect' the value of Psalms and hymns in contemporary praise and worship for someone .
I am making these available for potential use in personal and corporate praise in the hope that they will aid both memorisation and devotion.
Under Music you will find the first 3 playlists - Hymns Volume 1(shorter hymns) and 2 playlists of Psalms.
These will, I hope, be added to in the future weeks, months and years.
